Week 52: December 29, 2019
Last post of the year! We had two bald eagles in the trees by our house this week. The one on the left was hanging out for an hour or so and the one landing came in and then left fairly quickly. Lorraine also got a photo of one of the owls that we often hear at night but have not seen yet. You can see those photos and a few more of the eagles here: https://www.functionoflight.com/Denton-House-Photos/n-gtDMxz/Birds/
Week 45: November 10, 2019
We had a chance to get the garden beds ready for winter yesterday. I should have been more patient and waited for the sun to actually start setting. Yesterday was in the 70s and today in the 40s with a potential for an inch of snow tonight. Who doesn't love the fall in the Great Plains!
Week 35: September 1, 2019
We spent the weekend camping at Merritt Reservoir, an International Dark Sky Park, This is the first time I have taken a photo of the Milky Way and I am wishing I had done a few things differently! We'll call this a rough draft and learn some more before trying it again. Now to see if I don't have to be in a offical Dark Sky Park or drive 5 hours.
Week 26: June 23, 2019
We spent the weekend at the National Forest outside of Halsey, NE. This was our first visit to the Sandhills and we were impressed. We had a great campsite and went on a nice hike. The weather wasn't great but the rain stopped while we were hiking. I'll post some more photos when I get a chance to spend some time looking at them.
Week 21- May 19, 2019
We had a number of flowers that started to bloom this week. I posted a few more here: https://www.functionoflight.com/Denton-House-Photos/Flowers/n-bLSp3p
Week 9 - March 2, 2019
We went to the album release party for Andrea von Kampen this week at the Bay in Lincoln. You should definitely check her music out: https://www.andreavonkampen.com/
Week 8 - February 24, 2019
A break from our Nebraska winter with a conference in Phoenix and then San Fransico this week. The weather was "cold" for the locals in the each city, but it was much better than the weather at home. Somehow, we missed the big snow storms while we were traveling and our flights were not impacted. This is a photo from the conference outside of San Fransico. The conference was in two different hotels that are about an 8-minute walk. I may have chosen sessions to attend to maximize my outside time...
