June 27, 2011 :: U2 & The Claw We went to the U2 concert in East Lansing along with 65,000 other people. It was held in Spartan Stadium and they had this ridiculous stage. SmugMug's size limit didn't let me post the full stitched version of the stage but you can see it here http://joshmales.com/U2-2011-TheClawBig.jpg. Florence and the Machine opened up and played for 45 minutes or so, and then U2 played for almost 2 hours. The "special effects" were pretty impressive for a live show. In this picture the video board is extended. It was really cool to see this thing start moving. You'll have to go to the gallery with the rest of the pictures to really get an idea of this craziness. It started out as a 360 degree video board at the top of the stage so that we could see close ups, then during one of the songs it started moving down. http://themales.smugmug.com/Music/U2/17765177_nKRV9h Two of the rules were no bags and no lens longer than 3 inches. I decided to go with the 50mm.
June 26, 2011 I guess there is something good about the cats waking me up at 5:30 every morning for food. During the summer it is just about perfect timing for sunrise pictures!
June 25, 2011 :: TC Dugout I thought I was going to post pictures using my phone while on my trip, but it wasn't working very well. So I ended up missing a number of days here. This is a picture from our tour of the new stadium. I guess it is a year old, so it isn't all that new. This is a shot of the Twins dugout. I thought it was pretty cool to use limestone to cover it, as well as use it to decorate much of the stadium.
