May,09 2011 :: Long Lost Purdy Cousins In October, Mrs. Purdy was a substitute for me while I went to a friends wedding. I asked her if she knew any Purdy family history because my Grandma's maiden name was Purdy. This is how I remember the conversation: Mrs P: A little...I think they were ranchers in Missouri or something. me: yeah, I think that she was born on a ranch in Missouri, but I'm not sure. Do you know any names of anybody? Mrs. P: I think there was an Earl, and a Herman... Me: ummm, yeah we must be cousins or something, there can't be many Hermans out there. By lunch, she had gotten in touch with her husband and I had contacted my dad. Turns out, that their Grandfathers were brothers. They even remembered being at my dad's house in '62 (or '64 depending on who you ask) for a family reunion. This weekend, the 3 long lost cousins had a chance to catch up. Fortunately ( or unfortunately if you were the waitress) they are all really into family history and cattle. It was pretty funny to watch this little play-date.
